Booking Terms
Last updated: 5 August 2026
1. Booking & confirmation
Enquiries are made via WhatsApp, email or phone — there is no online booking form. A booking is only confirmed once we have agreed on dates and received your deposit; until then, dates are not held and remain available to other guests.
2. Rates & payment
Rates are as quoted to you at the time of enquiry and may change until a booking is confirmed. The balance of your stay is due before arrival, on a date we’ll confirm with you when you book.
3. Deposit
A deposit of 50% of the total booking value is required to secure your dates, with the remaining balance due 30 days before arrival (or in full at the time of booking for stays booked within 30 days of arrival).
4. Cancellations
If you need to cancel a confirmed booking:
- 30 days or more before arrival: full refund of your deposit.
- 14–29 days before arrival: 50% of your deposit is refunded.
- Less than 14 days before arrival: the deposit is not refundable.
We understand plans change unexpectedly — get in touch and we’ll always try to find a fair solution, including rebooking your dates where possible.
5. Check-in & check-out
Check-in is from 14:00 and check-out is by 10:00, unless we’ve agreed on different times with you in advance. Please let us know your expected arrival time so we can be ready to welcome you.
6. House rules
- Unit 1 sleeps up to 6 guests and Unit 2 sleeps up to 4 guests — please keep to the confirmed number of guests for your booking.
- No smoking indoors.
- No parties or events — this is a residential area and we ask guests to be considerate of neighbours, especially after 22:00.
- Pets are welcome on request only — please check with us before bringing a pet.
- Guests are responsible for any damage caused to the property or its contents during their stay beyond normal wear and tear.
7. Liability
The property is close to the harbour, ocean and estuary, and guests use the braai area, pool (where applicable), beach and surrounding areas at their own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by South African law, Die Hawehuis is not liable for any injury, loss or damage arising from your stay, except where the law does not allow such liability to be excluded — for example, in the case of gross negligence on our part.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa, including the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008, where applicable.
9. Questions
If anything here is unclear, message Janneke on WhatsApp at +27 82 860 2381 or email janneke@wispernet.co.za — we’re happy to talk through the details before you book.
